Summer White Shirt Style

Well I finally had a chance to wear the pleated hem shirt I won from Karen Millen this weekend. They very kindly  personalised it with the Initial “H” embroidered on each collar and I absolutely LOVE it.

If like me you love a classic white shirt as a wardrobe staple then this is definitely your summer version and it looks so good day or night.

I love that it is sleeveless too, minimal sweat patches in summer are a must, yes we all get them lovelies.

The Peplum pleated hem from the waist is super flattering, creating that hourglass effect nipping in your waist, fitted in the upper body and softly floating out over your hips.

This shape will look amazing on any hourglass, Rectangle and inverted triangle body shapes. It will either emphasis your curves or create them for you.

This shirt looks great buttoned up or open, it depends on what you feel suits you best. I personally prefer a V or open neck line to flatter my decolletage.

I recommend wearing this shirt with high waisted items only. If you do wear trousers or jeans that sit on the hips with a lower waist, I must stress that you can see them through the peplum and looks very disproportionate.

A pair of high waisted jeans or cigarette trousers look super flattering and chic as the waist finishes where the peplum begins. You could also wear leather look leggings or a high waisted pencil skirt.

Now lets talk bra’s as this is important with white shirts….

The colour and shape is very important to avoid that moon beam or four boob effect.  The right bra shape will help avoid bursting out the front or not being able to button the shirt up.

I recommend a nude bra that is NOT plunge style, a smooth T-shirt style bra is definitely best.

In the pics above I’m wearing my favourite nude strapless wonder bra. It really does do wonders, I wear it so much. This is the only comfortable, supportive and flattering strapless bra I’ve ever owned thanks to Debenhams fitting service’s.

There is also a version from Debenhams below I wear which comes with straps too and looks great under shirts /T-shirts.

Here are the 2 bra’s I wear with shirts…..

Left: Gorgeous DD+ Natural moulded cup multi way bra, £25 Debenhams / Right: Nude non wired strapless bra, £29 Wonderbra

Lastly, be careful putting this over your head once you’ve put all of your makeup on. Use the zip at the side and hold the shirt away from your face when slipping it over your head.

In terms of styling the shirt, obviously I am adding pattern and pops of colour to compliment this chic item.

In this first outfit I’m giving it a summer day time feel by adding a straw basket bag, I love the green sequin leaf details (honestly I’m obsessed), Navy patterned cigarette trousers, wedges, wavey hair and rouge lips.
